Closing up Shop

I’ve decided to close this blog. Obviously I can’t keep up with it. I will, however, be updating my main blog http://madisonsmission2.wordpress.com/ in a couple of weeks. I’ve let my health and weight slide again so I will getting that back on track while I blog about it.

Review Blog

Standard

Back in March I wrote a post about not being  able to find my blogging niche. Well, I think I’ve found it! Huzzah!  My niche is, wait for it, Reviewing! Yeah you probably guessed it from the title. That’s right, I’m turning this blog into a review blog. It will mostly be TV shows and books (because that’s my life right now), then I hope to eventually branch out. Maybe products, restaurants, or places. Those will come late once I start making money with my new job. I’m too poor right now haha. It’s not funny. *cries in corner*

What’s my new job you might ask? Well I will be sitting an elderly man while he sleeps. So basically nothing. Plenty of time to work on my new blog and make it excellent. I’ve put together a season premiere schedule of the shows I will be reviewing:

Once Upon a Time: Sept. 28 @ 8pm (ABC)

Supernatural: Oct. 7th @ 7pm (The CW)

Arrow: Oct. 8 @8pm (The CW)

American Horror Story: Oct. 8 @10pm (FX)

The Walking Dead: Oct. 12th @ 9pm (AMC)

I haven’t yet put together a reading list, but that will be coming soon. I will keep you posted. Yes that was a pun.

Professional Blogger? Jewelry Maker?

Standard

When my back hurting me even more lately, I’ve been trying to come up with ways that I could make money in case I ever have to retire from hair. I went to the doctor today and she couldn’t give me a definite answer as to what was causing the pain. This was my first time seeing her so I have to wait for my records to get transferred there and she’s also ordering the x-rays I had taken at the ER a month ago. She also wants to do some more tests and possibly schedule an MRI for me. She thinks that it might be another auto immune disorder (I was diagnosed with two back in 2012; ITP and Graves disease). She mentioned that it might be fibermyalgia or another auto immune that causes back pain. That’s what the other tests will figure out.

I’ve been going over the worst case scenarios in my head about what it could. That’s what I do. I think what if I can never do hair ever again? What will I do? The main reason why I’d have to retire is because I can’t be on my feet for too long. Most jobs require you to be on your feet. That’s when I came up with the brilliant idea of just starting a business from home. I’ve come up with two possible solutions:

  1. Professional Blogger
  2. Etsy Shop Owner

Or both. I’ve been researching both of them on how to get started. For the Etsy shop I would probably start out with just selling jewelry and then branching out later. I’m pretty artsy (not to brag or anything) so I’ll be able to make more stuff later. Right now it’s just a matter of funds. I was also going to sell vintage/antique items that I find from thrift stores. I’ve already found some good items so I’m hoping those will get my funds going. I’m not going to count on it though. In the articles I’ve read, they said it could take a few months to a year to actually start selling. That’s why after I get my shop up, I’m going to work on my blog while I’m waiting for things to sell.

Now on to the blogging part of my plan. This apparently will take awhile too. Here are some helpful hints/problems I picked up from my research:

  1. Picking a niche: in almost all the articles I read, it said that you should pick a certain niche to blog about. Find something you are passion about and write about it. If you have too many things you are blogging about, you lose your path and lose readers. My problem: I’ve never been solely passionate about one thing. I’ve only been semi-passionate about a bunch of things. That’s why I’ve decided to just blog about everything I love and hopefully a niche will find me.
  2. Planning posts ahead of time: This is something I think I can do. Once I find my niche of course. I thing I do fear is finding a niche where I won’t run out of things to blog about.
  3. Post daily or at lest twice a week: Definitely won’t be able to do the daily posting, but if I plan them out I can definitely do twice a week.
  4. Consistency: Once I find my niche, i have to stay with my niche. That will probably be the hardest part. Like I said, I like lots of things.
  5. Write about things that your audience can learn from: Don’t just write about yourself (which I do). Write about something that will benefit the reader.

So these are just a few things I picked up from my research. I’m going to get started on my planning now.

It’s rude to kill a man while he’s on the toilet. [Walking Dead Spoilers]

Josh-McDermitt-in-The-Walking-Dead-Season-4-Episode-11

I missed reviewing the first two episodes of the new part of the season. So here’s a shortened review of those plus the lengthy review of this past Sunday’s.

After [aired 2/9/14]

This episode made me dislike Carl even more. He was basically a sullen teenager the entire time. Mostly the way he talked to Rick. I would have slapped him.

Inmates [aired 2/16/14]

This was a really good episode. Mostly because Carol is back. I kind of knew/hoped that she would return. I really like her. I think that she’s really developed as a character. Even if she has turned a bit darker. It’s kind of awkward that it’s Tyreese that she finds. I wonder how that will turn out. If he’ll ever find out about what she did. I’m glad he has some help with the kids though. Especially Lizzie. She seems a bit…I don’t know the best word to describe her yet. I don’t want to say crazy. But the way she was covering Judith’s mouth made me uncomfortable. I thought she was going to smother the poor baby.

Claimed [aired 2/23/14]

This episode was kind of intense. Aren’t they all though? It was making me nervous with those men in the house and Rick under the bed. I was half hoping that Rick would have ran downstairs and started shooting, but I know that’s not how he is. Plus, it was probably best that he did what he did. He was outnumbered and not at his full strength. What really made me nervous was when Rick was under the bed and that guy saw him as he was getting strangled. [Well they said on Talking Dead that he was killed, the guy only did The Sleeper on him.] I’m sad that they had to leave the house, but now they are following the tracks and will hopefully be reunited with the others soon.

I really liked this episode because Michonne started to open up. She’s my favorite female character (Daryl is my favorite male) and it was nice to see her be more herself. I feel like this Michonne is pre-apocalypse Michonne whereas quiet, brooding Michonne is only post-apocalypse. I like that she and Carl are buddies (even though I still don’t care for Carl). Also, the pink room scene was a bit morbid, but I guess it is something you might run into during the end of the world.

We also see some character development in Glenn this episode. I think that before he would never have punched Abraham. He’s really toughened up since the earlier seasons. It’s kind of what you have to do in order to survive. He’s also determined to find Maggie and do whatever it takes until he does.

Speaking of Abraham, I don’t trust him or his crew. My motto has always been “never trust a man with a mullet”. It especially applies here. I guess we’ll have to wait and see if they can be trusted or not.

Back to Blogging

Standard

It would seem I’ve been M.I.A. for the past two months now. I do that sometimes. I haven’t really been in the blogging mood. I’ve been having back problems so my life has consisted of work, writing my novel, and having Netflix marathons and crying over the deaths of fictional characters. My back has started feeling better though and I feel like doing more things. Like blogging. Also the Walking Dead is back from hiatus and I have something to blog about again. Well this was a short post. See you soon.

INTERMISSION: Spotted this person wearing jeans and thigh high boots. At a kid’s farm. In 80 degree weather. Someone call the fashion police please? Or maybe just the police. Okay back to the festivities…

DSCN0104

Weenie roast time! Even though it was 80 degrees, we still roasted weenies and mallows (for s’mores. “How can I have some more if I haven’t had any?’ Name that movie.) over a fire.

DSCN0105

Candid eatin’ pic.

DSCN0107

Going to get the tree (yeah I know the picture’s kind of dark. Deal with it).

DSCN0113

My brother sawing the tree down while my sister was apparently re-creating an old Christmas Tree photo. I don’t know which one she was talking about though. I think she was making it up.

DSCN0119

Dragging the tree back. My brother was resourceful and used the saw to carry it.

Another candid.
