I have to say, this was an amazing sequel to the first Star Trek movie. Usually the sequels aren’t as good as the first ones. Not in this case. This might have actually been better than the first.

Reasons I Liked this movie:

  1. Benedict Cumberbatch- I recently discovered BBC’s Sherlock and have been a fan of Benedict and his voice ever since. Him being in this movie made it 1,ooo times more awesome. The fact that he played a villain? 1,001 times more awesome! Not only was Benedict epic in this role, so was his hair. I mean, it took on so many styles throughout the movie and had a personality of it’s own. One minute it was curly, the next he was sporting an emo do. Then out of nowhere, BOOM! Perfectly quaffed. I spent half the movie wondering what his hair was going to do next. It was pretty intense.
  2. Spock and Kirk’s Bromance- I don’t know why, but I love a good bromance. Spock and Kirk definitely had one going on in this movie. They’ve come a long way since the first movie when they hated each other. At several instances I thought that Kirk was going to tell Spock he loved him, especially at the end when Kirk went into the radioactive room and Spock came a-running to see him one last time. Many tears were shed during that scene. Then Spock ran off to avenge the death of his boyfriend best friend. Super bromantic.
  3. Action- There was so much action and suspense in this movie. Woah dang! I was on the edge of my seat and biting my nails the whole time. Literally. I bit my nails down to nubbins on one hand. It’s a gross habit I know. I can’t help it. It just happens when I get nervous. There were some scenes that I didn’t know if they were going to find a way out of their predicament. I almost had an anxiety attack! But in the end, all was well.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and would highly suggest that you see it. It will definitely be worth your $9.25. Unless you wait until Redbox (but that would be silly), then it’d definitely be worth your $1.29.
