For some reason I haven’t been too impressed with this season. I’m not quite sure why yet. I think one of the reasons is because I have to wait so long in between episodes. I’m used to hitting the “Play Next Episode” button. I watched the first 7 seasons on Netflix and could finish a season in one week. Now I have to wait one week to watch one episode. I’m also getting a bit tired of the whole “Angels vs. Demons” story line. How long are they going to keep up with it? It’s Basically be going on for 5 seasons now. I also feel like they are running out of good ideas for episodes. I’m not finding my self excited about tuning in anymore. Don’t get me wrong I still love the show and I’m still a huge fan, but I’m mostly watching this season to see how it ends. I personally think this could be the last season. Which will still make me sad. It’s been an amazing show, but it’s starting to lose it’s flair. As the title suggests, Supernatural isn’t as scary as it used to be. The first two seasons were scary (well more like “The Ring” scary/creepy). It’s slowly lost that touch over the seasons. Though I don’t usually like scary things, it used to be just enough to keep me interested.
This is the reason I haven’t been reviewing each episode. I have been impressed enough to write a full post about. But I have liked some things about each episode. Since it’s the mid-season finale, I will briefly summarize each episode that has aired this far and throw in my 2 cents about each.
9.01 I Think I’m Going to Like it Here:
Recap-
Sam is in a coma and the doctors tell Dean that he’s going to die. Dean prays to the angels and “Ezekiel” shows up. He says he can’t heal Sam like normal, but must do it from within. “Ezekiel” says that they can’t tell Sam about it because he might eject Zeke before he finishes healing him. Zeke tricks Sam into saying yes and again Jared is forced to play another character other than Sam. I don’t think he’ll ever just play Sam. Meanwhile, Castiel is human.
My 2 Cents-
At first I thought that the idea of angel possessing Sam was a bit silly, but it’s also in the Supernatural nature. Plus, as the season has gone on, it has come in handy. I think that Jared is doing fantastic job at playing Zeke as well as Sam. He always does. Over the seasons [Lucifer/Gary Finkle/Leviathan/Meg/] he’s has to play many different characters and just does such a fantastic job. It shows his versatility.
9.02 Devil May Care
Recap-
Abbadon comes back and rounds up a gang of demons. They capture hunters in an attempt to find the Winchesters. The Winchesters of course hunt them down and attempt to fight Abbadon and her cronies. Just as Sam and Dean are bout to lose, Zeke shows up and kills the cronies and scaring off Abbadon. Meanwhile, Sam and Dean have Crowley prisoner in the basement.
My 2 cents-
This is an episode I didn’t really care for so I don’t have much to say about it. Plus I don’t really remember it .
9.03 I’m No Angel
Recap-
Cas is human and meets a reaper posing as a human. They sleep together and she reveals herself the next morning before killing Cas. Dean and Sam show right as she is stabbing Cas with an angel blade. Zeke shows up and brings Cas back. Sam, Dean, and Cas return to the bunker. Zeke won’t stay while Cas is there since all the angels are after him. In order to save Sam, Dean tells Cas to leave.
My 2 Cents-
It makes me sad that Dean tells Cas to leave without telling him why. They had just gotten back together.
9.04 Slumber Party
Recap-
Wizard of OZ themed slumber with the return of Charlie. There is a wicked witch from OZ on the loose. The witch kills Charlie, but Zeke brings her back. After they kill the witch, Charlie goes to OZ with Dorothy.
My 2 Cents-
I was so excited to see Charlie again! She is one of my favorite supporting characters. I’m glad that Zeke brought her back because I would have been pissed if they had killed her off. I’m also glad that she got her adventure at the end with Dorothy.
9.05 Dog Dean Afternoon
Recap-
A cat eating man creature is kills a taxidermist, leaving the taxidermist’s dog behind. Sam and Dean think the the dog knows something so they perform a spell that will meld Dean’s mind with the dog’s. Dean is the able to talk to the dog and also picks up dog characteristics.
My 2 Cents-
This episode was okay. There were some funny parts, especially when that tiny dog wanted Sam to rub his belly.
9.06 Heaven Can’t Wait
Recap-
Dean and Castiel team up to find an Aritizia, an angel healer, who is easing peoples’ suffering by killing them. Sam and Kevin ask Crowley for help in finding a way to open the gates to Heaven.
My 2 Cents-
I thought it so cute when Cas was prepping for is date. He was so excited. Then he finds out that he was the babysitter. Sad day.
9.07 Bad Boys
Recap-
Dean and Sam visit Dean’s old boy’s home that’s now being haunted by a ghost.
My 2 Cents-
I really liked this episode because it had an old Supernatural feel to it. It had a scary ghost and it had Winchester feels. The end flashback when Dean was getting ready for the dance and his dad shows up to take him away. Dean is thinking of staying, but then he looks outside and sees little Sammy. Sammy is what makes him go back to his dad. Right in the feels!
9.08 Rock and a Hard Place
Recap-
Sheriff Mills calls Sam and Dean for help with multiple disappearances in the town. Discovering all four victims belonged to the same church chastity group, Sam and Dean decide to infiltrate by joining the group themselves.
My 2 Cents-
This episode was kind of blah. I liked that Jodi Mills was back and the use of a Roman goddess.
9.09 Holy Terror
Recap-
The angels go to war against each other. A secret about Ezekiel is revealed.
My 2 Cents-
So many things happened in this episode. Cas got his grace back! Yay! [Well somone else’s grace, but still grace]. However, turns out Zeke isn’t Zeke, but some other angel. This angel wants to team up with Metatron and start up their own version of heaven. Rut row. Zeke/Not Zeke kills Kevin! This makes me so sad. I liked Kevin. I guess it was due though because the writers hadn’t officially killed off anyone this season. Maybe since Cas has his powers back, Dean will call upon him to bring Kevin back? Knowing Supernatural though Kevin’s probably gone for good. After Not Zeke killed Kevin, he said that Sam was gone for good [which can’t really be true] and stormed off. Poor Dean, alone again.
What will happen to Dean? Is Sam really gone? What’s Cas up to?
Supernatural returns Janurary 14th.
